This was the 45th annual Jet Holiday Tournament and the 25th straight year that Arcanum, FM, Tri-Village and Versailles made up the field. It may also have been one of the most highly competitive and closely contested tournaments in recent history.
Over the last 15 years Versailles has had a strong hold on the tournament winning 12 titles with Tri-Village sandwiching in-between three straight titles... but the last 6 years have belonged to the Tigers.
In the opening round game Tri-Village took on the reigning champs and when the dust settled the Patriots were able to pull off a dramatic one point win 47-46 on Ryan Bucks two free throws with 5 seconds left to play. Buck led the Patriots with 18 points while Kendall Stutz and Tyler Greer both chipped in 11 points. Bryant Ahrens went for 13 points and Jon Richard 11 for Versailles. In the night cap it was Arcanum taking on host Franklin Monroe. The two teams met previously in the season and Arcanum was able to escape with a 3 point win. In another tightly contested game it was Arcanum who would once again take the narrow victory 52-50. Clint Hale led the Trojans with 27 points while Brenton Balsbaugh tossed in 10. Heath Kaufman had a team high 18 points for Franklin Monroe.
In the second night of action Versailles found themselves in a unusual position playing host Franklin Monroe for the consolation game. The Tigers jumped out to an early lead that was insurmountable for the Jets and they coasted to a 49-38 consolation game win. Clayton Nieport had the hot hand early on dropping 18 points with Bryan Ahrens adding 10 points on the night.
Franklin Monroe was led again by Heath Kaufman with 9 and Lane Lucas with the same amount.
The Championship game would also turn out to be a thriller but in the end the Patriots would once again regain the Tourney Title with a dramatic 51-50 win.
