SPECIAL WIN...the Bradford Railroaders claimed a big victory over neighboring rival Newton.

Bradford Boys varsity basketball team defeated the Newton Indians 43 to 36 in CCC action on Saturday night.

The Railroaders led a balanced attack against the Indians controlling the boards and never relinquishing the lead after the teams were knotted up at 4-4 early in the first period. Junior Danial Phillips dropped in a quick 7 points in the first period to lead the attack.

Bradford led by 9 points at the half 24-15 with Junior Danial Phillips leading the charge with 8 points.

Bradford kept the Indians at bay in the final 2 periods with Juniors Josh Williams and Phillip Jones hitting key baskets throughout the second half. Williams ended the game with 8 points and Phillip Jones ending the game with 11 points with 7 of Jones’s point coming in the second half.

The Railroaders did an excellent job defensively making key rebounds and led by Logan Looker and Phillip Jones on the defensive end of the game.

Bradford was 11 for 18 from the foul line with Newton shooting 6 for 10 from the line.
