LADY TIGER RELAYS SHINE

PASSING THE BATON...is what the Ansonia girls do best as all four sprint relay teams are alive for trips to Regionals.

Ansonia's girls are making a statement on the track at the District Meet in West Milton as they stand in third place with 21 points after the first day of events.

That statement is the Lady Tigers' relay teams are on a mission - a mission to get to Regionals.

All four Lady Tiger sprint relay teams qualified for Saturday's finals with the 4x400 team of Jennifer Stone, Renee Schmitmeyer, Courtney Swabb and Brittany Miller leading the way with the fastest qualifying time of 4:14.68.

The 4x100 Meter Relay team of Kris Greer, Courtney Swabb, Lesley Pitsenbarger and Brittany Miller finished the Preliminaries behind only Versailles. The Lady Tigers finished with a time of 53.70.

Both the 4x200 and 4x800 Meter Relay teams qualified for the finals with third place finishes.

The 4x200 team of Kris Greer, Courtney Swabb, Ariel Edwards and Brittany Miller finished in 1:53.71 behind Versailles and Fort Loramie, while the 4x800 team of Renee Schmitmeyer, Katie Schmitmeyer, Tabby Hammaker and Jennifer Stone ran a 10:06.88.

But it wasn't just the relay teams that had success for the Lady Tigers as Leslie Pitsenbarger ran the fastest time in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.05. She will run in the finals on Saturday with a trip to Regionals on the line.

Two Ansonia girls punched their tickets to the Regional Meet, both sophomores and in the same event.

In the High Jump, Ariel Edwards placed third with a leap of 5 feet, while Stephanie Mayo jumped 4-10 to finish fourth.

With Saturday's finals still to be decided, the Ansonia girls have several more opportunities to make their mark.

Hopefully it leads to a full bus load making the trip to the Regional Meet in Dayton.

Leslie Pitsenbarger ran the fastest qualifying time in the 110 Meter Hurdles with a time of 16.05.
