GAINING MORE STEAM...is what Sam Smallwood and the Miami East Vikings are doing each week.

SEPTEMBER 26, 2008 - CASSTOWN
Miami East ran all over Bradford Friday night and earned a 69-0 win. The Vikings rolled up over 600 yards in total offense and finished with 668 yards on the night. They also had three backs finish with over 100 yards rushing in the game.
Sam Smallwood lead the attack with 214 yards on 14 carries and 3 touchdowns (all in the first half). The other Viking backs with over 100 yards were Tyler Dunivan who had 134 yards on 13 carries and 2 touchdowns, and Brock Smith who had 137 yards on 11 carries and 2 touchdowns.
Miami East had a 41-0 lead before the Railroaders came close to scoring. Bradford managed to get as close as a first and goal on the Vikings one inch line shortly before halftime. Unfortunately, they were unable to get it in and were forced to turn it over on downs.
In the second half Miami East played their starters for only the first couple series while working in their second string and eventually their third string. The Vikings final three touchdowns came on runs from Kyle Rowe, Coleton Bowling, and Matt Beaty.
"We had too many penalties in the first half. Otherwise our backs ran really well tonight. We tried to slow down our third string offense there in the fourth quarter by getting delay of game penalties. Bradford did try hard they did get it down to our one inch line there in the first half. We just did a great job of stopping them there. We just had too much for them to handle tonight," Viking coach Max Current later said.
The Vikings are now 5-1 overall and 5-0 in the CCC, while the Railroaders are now 0-6 and 0-5 in the CCC. Miami East travels to Twin Valley South next week, while Bradford hosts Mississinawa Valley.
