WEEK SIX RECAP

IN CONTROL...Max Current and his Miami East Vikings are in control of their own destiny as they look to claim their first CCC title.

After six weeks two teams remain in control of their own destiny in their quest to claim the conference championship and earn state play-off births.

Miami East seems to be gaining more and more steam with every outing. Friday's 69-0 victory over Bradford was another statement of the Vikings' determination to accomplish a goal established since the final game of last season.

The powerful Viking offense racked up nearly 700 yards of offense (668) with Sam Smallwood leading the way with 214 rushing yards and three first half touchdowns. Miami East had two more backs rush for over 100 yards as Tyler Dunivan went for 134 and Brock Smith ran for 137 yards.

Ansonia is also in control of its own destiny as they stand at 5-0 in the CCC (5-1 overall) after an equally impressive 54-7 victory over Bethel.

The Tigers out-gained Bethel 460 yards to 112 and pounded out 358 yards on the ground as they built a 48-0 lead in the third quarter and cruised to the win.

Although needing both Miami East and Ansonia to each lose once in the final four games, Covington and Arcanum stayed in contention with wins to improve to 4-1 in league play (4-2 overall).

Covington cruised to a 41-7 lead before surrendering three fourth quarter touchdowns to National Trail in a 41-28 victory, while Arcanum held on to defeat Mississinawa Valley, 14-8.

The Buccs can help their chances next week with a win at Ansonia. Arcanum gets its shot against Miami East in week ten.

In the final conference game of the weekend Twin Valley South defeated Tri-County North 45-30. The Panthers from the south now stand at 3-2 in the CCC and 3-3 overall, while their northern neighbors drop to 2-3 in the CCC and 2-4 overall.
