TWO MEDALS...is what Twin Valley South's Joe Molesky earned at the state track meet over the weekend.
A handful of Cross County Conference performers took home some hardware at the 2008 OHSAA Track and Field Championships at Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium in Columbus over the weekend.
Twin Valley South's Joe Moleski had a banner weekend as he placed second in the 100 and seventh in the 200.
In the 100, Moleski took to the track Friday in the preliminaries and ran the second fastest qualifying time of 11.46. He then duplicated that effort on Saturday with a time of 11.31 - good for runner-up behind Cameron Hermiller of Delphos St. John's (11.01).
The Twin Valley South senior advanced to the finals of the 200 with a preliminary time of 23.79. He then came in seventh in the finals on Saturday in a close race. Molesky was just ran a 22.94, just .77 off the winning time of 22.17.
Another Panther claimed a spot on the podium in the Shot Put. Senior John Stone placed fourth with a toss of 53-02.50.
Joining Stone as a placer in the Shot Put was Arcanum's Josh Burns, who took sixth with a throw of 52-09.75.
Bethel senior Chad McCarty claimed eighth in the 1600 with a time of 4:30.64.
Two girls earned medals for the CCC as Katie Mengos and Ariel Edwards each placed eighth in their respective events.
Mengos, of Miami East, edged out Covington's Renee Otte for a spot on the podium in the Long Jump with a distance of 16-05.50, bettering Otte's jump of 16-04.25.
Edwards, a sophomore from Ansonia, earned her medal in the High Jump with a leap of 5-02.00.
Congratulations to all the performers who represented the CCC at the state meet and to those that came home with medals.
