VIKINGS BEAT BRADFORD 34-22

STILL ROLLIN'...is Tyler Dunivan and the Miami East Vikings with their sixth straight win.

By Dwaine Maxson
The Vikings rolled Friday to 34-22 victory over the Railroaders. Miami East pounded Bradford for 375 yards on the ground on the night. Even a late surge in the fourth quarter was not enough for the Railroaders to overcome the Vikings’ lead.

East jumped out to a 15-0 lead in the first quarter. Their first score coming on a Tyler Dunivan 2 yard run. Then later the Vikings got a safety when Bradford had a bad snap on a punt attempt go through the back of the end zone. Dunivan would later add another score on a 25 yard touchdown run.

In the second quarter the Railroaders finally got on the scoreboard with a Johnathon Barbee 17 yard touchown. After the 2-point conversion run by Alex Frantz they were trailing 15-8, but that was as close as they would get as the Vikings would take control. Kyle Noe would later score another touchdown for Miami East giving them a 21-8 lead at half.

The Vikings completely controlled the third quarter. Offensively they slowly but surely moved the ball and scored two more times. The first on a Brock Smith 7 yard touchdown run. The last being a 17 yard run by Dunivan for his third of the game. Defensively East completely shutdown Bradford as the Railroaders were unable to move the ball at all in the third quarter.

Bradford managed to score two more in the fourth. Alex Frantz scored on a 9 yard run and then added the two point conversion. Barbee scored the final score of the night on a seven yard run.

The Vikings had two 100 yard rushers on the night. Tyler Dunivan lead with 149 yards on 17 carries for three touchdowns. Brock Smith also had 133 yards on 11 carries and a score.

“We came out and won. Bradford is young and they played hard. We have South at home next week, so we need to focus on that this week,” Viking Coach Max Current said after the game.

Next week Miami East (6-1, 6-0) hosts Twin Valley South, while Bradford (1-6, 0-6) travels to Mississinawa Valley.
