FRANKLIN MONORE'S...ABBEY DAVENPORT
CCC Track...
Game of the Week...
Athlete of the Week...
Through the Lens...
Due to the Holidays, we are a week late in recognizing one of the top student/athletes the conference has seen in recent years, Franklin Monroe's Abbey Davenport. Regardless, Davenport is very deserving of our first "Athlete of the Week" in the year 2006.

After securing the Triple Double against Dixie with 20 points, 10 assists and 11 steals on December 17th, Davenport needed twenty-five points against Bethel the following Monday to break the 1000 point milestone. Abbey drained 5 treys and with 7:10 left in the 4th quarter she drains a deuce just inside the top of the key to surpass the mark. The game was stopped temporarily to present Abbey the game ball and to acknowledge her achievement.

Out of 1000 career points, we asked Abbey which point was the most memorable, toughest, longest and most bizarre.

Most Memorable: Of course the 1000 point goal and giving the game ball to her niece.

Toughest: “My sophomore year when I shot a three pointer in the corner while 6’ 3” Faye Barhorst (Ft. Loramie, now an All A – 10 Volleyball player at UD - ed. note) was running at me with her arms in the air!”

Longest: My jr. year during the Bradford game 5 ft. behind the 3 point line.

The most bizarre: Last year during the district finals against Jackson Center we had a special play for me to lob the ball to Elania and it ended up going through the hoop. I will never forget what Elaina said to me while running down the floor: " You stole my play!"

Congrats to Abbey for a great week of basketball, breaking the 1000 point career mark and for being our second two time athlete of the week and our first selection in 2006!
