The National Trail Blazers are well out of contention for conference titles and play-off births, but Tyler Lebu is running the football like post-season hopes are on the line.
Tyler Lebu is the spark plug for the Blazer offense and has been churning out yardage against even the top teams in the conference. He is one of just two backs to gain over 100 yards on the Covington Buccaneers this season as he rushed for 171 yards against the Buccs in week five.
In the Blazers' big 26-19 overtime win over Twin valley South, Lebu ran the ball 32 times for 178 yards and a touchdown. His lone touchdown wasn't as spectacular as many of his runs, but it may have been the biggest run of the season for the Blazers.
It came in overtime after Trail tied the score in regulation and failed on the point-after to send the game into overtime. Lebu then scored the winning touchdown in the Blazers' come-from-behind win.
National Trail coach Mark Hoffman was pleased with both Tyler Lebu and Chaz Richardson, but it is Lebu who gets our pick as "Athlete of the Week".
