When you hear the name McWhinney mentioned along with the National Trail Blazers your mind will eventually think of Basketball. The name has been associated with all-conference players with Tony, who graduated in ’03 and Jennifer who is currently a Junior.
Jennifer led the Lady Blazers in scoring on the hardwood, but she is known for a different ‘hops’ in the spring.
McWhinney is one of the best 100 meter hurdlers in the conference and she won the 100 and a rare 400 meter hurdles this last weekend at the Kenny Beard Invitational at Milton Union.
Look for McWhinney in 100 meter hurdles and Arcanum’s Brook Strayer in the 300 meter hurdles to battle it out at the CCC Championships at Twin Valley South on May 11th and 13th!
McWhinney's prowess on the track clearing the hurdles has raised some eyebrows and earned our recognition as our "Athlete of the Week".
