If the Bradford Lady Railroaders are to make it deep into the tournament again this year they'll need a strong performance by a senior leader in Heather Selanders.
If this week's performance by Selanders is any indication, Bradford is well on its way to another exciting season.
Selanders pitched Bradford to its first win of the season against Riverside, 5-3. The senior went the distance by striking out three and allowing just seven hits.
She also helped her own cause by going 2 for 4 at the plate with and RBI single.
Selanders then picked her game up a notch in a 22-3 shellacking of Troy Christian.
She returned to the mound in relief of Kyla Kosier and struck out two. But, it was her bat that had the most impact.
Selanders recorded three RBIs and went long with a home run.
For her performance in the opening week of softball season, Heather Selanders of Bradford High School is our Athlete of the Week.
